Famous pianist Anjelika Akbar visits the Şerefiye Cistern

Organized by the İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) affiliate, the Culture Co., the exhibition titled “The Horses, Ottoman Calligraphy and Süleymanname,” bringing together Süleyman Saim Tekcan’s sculptures and engravings, spanning 30 years, was held between October 24, 2018 and January 14, 2019.The horse sculptures, horse engravings, and calligraphy detailed sculptures and engravings were appreciated by the art lovers who visited the exhibition specially designed for the Şerefiye Cistern and curated by Mehmet Lütfi Şen. Renowned pianist and composer Anjelika Akbar visited the 1,600-year-old Şerefiye Cistern, where had a chance to visit the exhibition titled “The Horses, Ottoman Calligraphy and Süleymanname.” The artist who expressed her admiration for both the Cistern and the show, took pictures in order to commemorate the occasion. The Şerefiye Cistern has emerged as a favorite location for cultural and artistic activities and has attracted the interest of foreign and local visitors with its historical and cultural value, as well as its mystical atmosphere.
