The “Chamber Music and Recital Series” and “Early Period and Baroque Concerts Series” are organized by the Department of Culture, an organization serving under the İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality and its affiliate, Kültür AŞ. Music lovers can enjoy, some of the classical world’s finest compositions performed in the magnificent Şerefiye Cistern. Performances will take place every Saturday throughout the year. THREE CONCERTS TO BE HELD IN JANUARY The January program for the “Chamber Music and Recital Series,” organized by the Department of Culture, serving under the İstanbul Metropolitan Municipality and the “Early Period and Baroque Concerts Series,” organized by IMM affiliate Kültür AŞ have been announced. The first performance will take place on Saturday, January 12 at 18.00, with the participation of “Music of İstanbul.” Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehtap Demir, an ethnomusicologist, rebap player and folk singer, will perform Turkish folk songs of the palace from the 16th and 19th century.
Aslıhan And and Tolga Kulak are going to perform “Journey from Baroque to Classical Music” on Saturday, January 19 at 18.00. The flutist and the violinist will perform compositions from Georg Philipp Telemann, Jean-Marie Leclair, Wilhelm Friedemann Bach, Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach and Franz Anton Hoffmeister. On Saturday, January 26, 2018, at 18.00, the “Sufi Music Concert” will be held. Ms. Serap Çiftçi, a ballerina and mezzo-soprano who has performed with the Antalya State Opera, will perform Yunus Emre's works on divine love. The classical music concerts will be performed on Saturdays. Admission is free, and guests can also visit the magnificently restored Şerefiye Cistern from the 4th century, one of İstanbul’s most remarkable cultural treasures.
